The short version

MacAutocomplete is built to keep your writing private. The macOS app runs entirely on your Mac — your keystrokes, the text it reads to make suggestions, and the local AI model never leave your device and are never sent to us or anyone else. This website collects only the minimum needed to sell you a license and let you sign in.

The macOS app

Suggestions are generated by a local model on your Mac. The app makes zero outbound network requests for completions — you can verify this with a network monitor such as Little Snitch. It does not collect analytics, telemetry, or your typed content. Password and other secure fields are never read.

The app talks to our servers only for two optional things: checking for updates (Sparkle), and validating your license key when you activate a device (we receive the license key and an anonymous hardware fingerprint — never your text).

This website & your account

To sell and manage a lifetime license, we store:

  • Your email — to deliver your license, sign you in, and provide support.
  • License & device records — your license key, status, and the Macs you've activated (hostname + a hashed hardware fingerprint).
  • Payment metadata — handled by Stripe. We never see or store your card details.

Authentication and data storage are provided by Supabase. Transactional email (sign-in links, receipts) is sent via Resend. Anonymous download counts use an IP hash with a daily-rotating salt, so they can't be tied back to you over time.

What we don't do

No ad tracking, no selling data, no profiling. We don't receive the content you write.
